    •   He that keeps his mouth keeps his life: but he that opens wide his lips shall have destruction.
    •   The soul of the sluggard desires, and has nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat.
    •   A righteous man hates lying: but a wicked man is loathsome, and comes to shame.
    •   Righteousness keeps him that is upright in the way: but wickedness overthrows the sinner.

    • 24   He that spares his rod hates his son: but he that loves him chastens him betimes.
    • 25   The righteous eats to the satisfying of his soul: but the belly of the wicked shall want.

    American King James Version
    Produced by Stone Engelbrite

This is a new translation of the Bible, based on the original King James Version. It is a simple word for word update from the King James English. I have taken care to change nothing doctrinely, but to simply update the spelling and vocabulary. I have not changed the grammar because that could alter it doctrinely.

I am hereby putting the American King James version of the Bible into the public domain on November 8, 1999.
